Gaetano Riccobono
Gaetano Riccobono was born in Palermo on 29-9-1965.
After his first debuts in various local formations, he began his activity as a jazz singer alongside Enzo Randisi in 1989 playing both in the small formations of the great vibraphonist and in the vocal ensemble of the Duke Ellington Singers.
In the same period he participated in various tours for the dissemination of jazz music in Sicily as part of the concert seasons organized by the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, collaborating with Lino Patruno, Romano Mussolini, Enzo Randisi and the vocal ensemble of the Duke Ellington Singers.
In 1997 he recorded his first CD entitled That's Life entirely dedicated to the reworking of the Broadway Song.
In 1998 he organized a vocal summit for the municipality of Palermo and duet with the great American singer Mark Murphy.
In 1999 he moved to Verona at the suggestion of saxophonist Francesco Bearzatti.
At the same time he met the pianist and teacher Barry Harris and began to deepen the study of jazz language.
Between 99 and 2005 he participated in about 200 concerts in Italy and abroad (Petit Opportun Paris, Jazz Club Lustenau Austria, Royal Conservatory Den Haag Holland, Isola D'Istria Slovenia) and counts a series of prestigious collaborations including: Frans Elsen, Renato Chicco, Oscar Zenari, Massimo Chiarella, Gianni Cazzola, Luigi and Pasquale Grasso.
In 2001 he toured Sicily with Bobby Durham, Massimo Faraó and Stefano Senni.
In 2001 he recorded his second CD entitled Along The Sun.
In 2002 he was involved by the critic Lelio Tagliaferro, as part of the concert season of the Verona Philharmonic Theater, in a project for voice, piano and string quintet orchestrated and directed by Giorgio Gaslini.
In 2005 he returned to Palermo and devoted himself to teaching at various associations.
In 2006 the concert with Gaslini became a live CD for the Azzurra label.
Since 2010 he has been teaching jazz singing in various conservatories and since 2017 he has been teaching at the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory in Palermo.
Among the most recent collaborations we highlight: Salvatore Bonafede, Johnny O'Neal, John Colianni.
